Water Meter Reader

Council is seeking to appoint 2 x casual Water Meter Readers to contribute to Council’s success.

  • Casual, outdoor roles 
  • Working 38 hours per week for a 4-6 week block
  • Working in various locations across the Gladstone region

About the Role

The purpose of this position is to support Council’s bi-annual collection of water consumption data through routine readings of water meters in order for water charges to be levied on ratepayers in the Gladstone Region. There may be opportunities for the incumbent to voluntarily opt-in to other routine field work relating to Council’s annual Animal Inspection Program.

You will bring: 

  1. Ability to accurately record water meter readings daily for a period of 4 to 6 weeks.
  2. Able to undertake plenty of walking, bending, squatting and lifting lids
  3. Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in a similar work environment.
  4. Basic literacy and numeracy in order to read and understand directions and record water meter read data.
  5. Ability and experience to effectively handle situations that may arise with small to large animals.
  6. Positive attitude, strong work ethic and good attention to detail
  7. Current valid Queensland drivers licence.
