2023 foresees tremendous growth in the rail cart and transportation industry with our client being awarded with various contracts for the transit of cattle and grain corp throughout the north, central and south coasts of Queensland. This will provide stability, variety and security for those wishing to establish themselves in sunny Queensland with a people-first organisation. There are multiple locations available with Rockhampton, Cloncurry and Mackay being priority areas.

Other locations include - Fisherman Islands, Toowoomba, Warwick, Goondiwindi, Charleville, Gladstone, Emerald, Townsville and Hughenden.

Joining the organisation as a Level 3 train Driver, your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintain and hold a relevant State Safe Working/Track Access Permit (SARC)
  • Drive shunting locomotives, with or without locomotive remote control
  • Undergo On and Off job tuition and training in locomotive and train management, including route knowledge
  • Locomotive and vehicle provisioning including daily locomotive checks
  • Clerical - Complete any relevant paperwork required
  • Operating locomotives including line haul, train inspections, air test, shunting and marshalling in all locations with or without distributive power, remote control and inclusive of driver-only operation
  • Examining and certifying trains as ready for departure
  • Promote operational performance

The position offered is permanent full-time, 40 hours per week. Rosters are serviced 24/7. Accommodation will be provided for overnight transit.


About you:

  • Hold a Certificate IV in Train Driving
  • Possess a minimum of 18 months of experience driving
  • Safety focus - ability to determine risk and act and respond safely
  • Team player - you enjoy interacting and collaborating with others
  • Flexible - able to work on a rostered basis, full-time hours - 40 hours per week

To be considered for this role, you will need to undergo a CAT 1 Rail Medical, including D&A test and provide certification of experience with your application.
