This position is Casual. 

Work is typically performed Monday to Thursday between 9am and 3pm, 2 or 3 days per week.

This role would suit school hours.


Job Responsibilities         

The duties and responsibilities will vary according to the current needs of the organisation, however the main fields that the position holder will be involved in are: 

Warehouse management and organisation

Stocking of chemicals and inventory management (person needs to be able to lift 25 kg chemical bags and drums) and be aware of chemical hazards and safety data sheets.
Chemical ordering.
Re-shelve and organise warehouse.
Stocking of second-hand process equipment and tools.
Stocking of new process equipment such as pumps, blowers, mixers, filters.
Sorting and stocking PVC, PE and steel fittings.
Development of database of stock.
General cleaning of warehouse shelves, tables and floors.
Document archiving.

Servicing of Sewage Treatment Plants

Performance of fortnightly and monthly servicing and performance evaluation of local sewage treatment plants
Travel to and from site with the furthest site 1.25 hours drive;
Testing of process streams and treated water;
Conducting field analysis of samples;
Sample collection and despatch to laboratory;
Basic report development
Trouble shooting plant performance and implement corrective actions.

Assisting Engineers and Scientists

Assist with research experimentation, pilot plant testing and reporting.
Assist with local plant maintenance or upgrade work.
Organising analytical bottles and orders.
Environmental sampling, mainly associated with ground water analysis.
Process equipment cleaning.
Attendance to monthly management and planning meeting.
Other tasks associated with the function of Alpha Concepts, mainly associated with water and wastewater treatment.


Work hands-on in other roles within the organisation in busy times and during staff shortages.
Perform other duties as requested by your supervisor from time to time.
Be willing to keep technical skills current through attending seminars and training as required by management.



Essential (must have or be able to quickly obtain)

Science related qualification. Either Associate Diploma/ Bachelor Degree/ higher (or equivalent experience)
Undergo large industry site specific inductions and training etc for servicing of local clients.
Must have open C-Class (car) driver’s licence with a safe driving record (Use of company vehicles)
High commitment to WH&S practices and focus on eliminating and minimising hazards
Sound administrative skills to ensure correct documentation is supplied to Alpha Concepts in an accurate and timely manner
Basic Microsoft skills (excel – data entry; word – basic reports; emails)
Construction industry White or Blue card
Flexibility in relation to work hours and travel (regular travel up to 2 hours drive)
Basic Report Writing Skills
Ability to pass Client worksite Medical Examinations;
Ability to easily lift 25 kilograms safely without assistance;
Ability to perform regular bending, stretching, twisting whilst carrying 25 kilograms;
Working in confined or limited space;
Ability to stand all day;
Ability to move / operate plant and equipment safely without injury to yourself or others.
Ability and willingness to comply with government Health Directives/ Mandates (ie. Covid-19 vaccinations, mask wearing).
Ability to work in a high paced, customer service environment;
Ability to receive constructive feedback objectively;
Ability to work in a small close-knit Team environment;
Ability to work alone with minimal supervision;
Ability to work to strict time frames;
Very organised, neat and tidy at all times;
Willing to be accountable for the outcomes of your work and how it affects other team members and clients.
Ability to be adaptable to an ever changing technical and organisational environment.
Willingness to undertake a drug and alcohol test at any time during your employment (to ensure safety).
Willingness to undertake any job-related training your Manager deems appropriate.

Preferred (nice to have)

Current advanced First Aid and CPR certification
Practical Handy person skills (ability to fix minor issues or willingness to have a go)


Remuneration will be market value dependent upon the successful applicants’ experience and qualifications.
