Team Leader - Mine

Job Description

Based at our East End Mine, we are looking for an experienced leader to join our East End site as our Team Leader - Mine.

Reporting to the Mine Manager, you will lead a team of Mine Operators and Plant Attendants to supply raw materials to our Fisherman's Landing cement plant. You will work in partnership with the rest of the mine team to ensure the quantity and quality of product is produced in a safe and cost effective manner. Your organisational and planning skills along with your ability to manage and motivate your team to achieve goals safely is where you will make all the difference as a frontline leader.

 

About the role:

As a key member of the mine leadership team, you will:

  • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental policies and procedures
  • Lead and take part in SHE training, conducting communication sessions and tool box talks, ensuring JPT’s are correctly completed and safety observations are undertaken frequently
  • Manage mine production workforce
  • Record daily production statistics
  • Ensure plant chemistry targets are within specifications
  • Ensure volumes produced to the crusher achieve plant performance KPI’s
  • Work with the team and the rail provider to schedule deliveries to the production facility
  • Work with the mine workshop to ensure mobile equipment is inspected to an appropriate level
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and maximise value of mine spend
  • Manage and continuously review costs within the production area
  • Lead, coach and mentor direct reports, including training identification and performance reviews
  • Promote the culture of continuous improvement by challenging the status quo and generating ideas to improve plant, process and people performance.

 

About you:

  • You have previous experience in a Team Leader or Supervisor role in mining with G1, 8 and 9 or equivalent mining supervisor qualifications
  • Your experience demonstrates a good understanding of operating mobile and fixed plant such as loaders, excavators, dump trucks, crushers and conveyor systems
  • You have knowledge of the drilling and blasting process
  • You have great communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment
  • You have a strong focus and commitment to safety and compliance
  • You bring a positive approach towards continuous improvement
  • You have basic computer skills e.g. Word, Excel and SAP would be an asset
  • An understanding of mining legislation would be beneficial
