About the Role


The Specialist Planner role covers all tasks to support the safe and efficient execution of the mine site maintenance plan, with a focus on Infrastructure and Medium Vehicle operational maintenance teams work. The role is a critical aspect to the success of Saraji, now and into the future.

Reporting to the Superintendent Infrastructure Maintenance the Specialist Planner is an integral part of our dynamic team responsible for Planning & Scheduling work to ensure safety and efficiency. Your strong analytical and problem solving skills will allow you to think on your feet and identify improvement and optimisation initiatives across the site.

This role is based at Saraji South Mine, Central Queensland, and is being offered as on a Dayshift only roster working 5/2.

Specific responsibilities:


  • Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, the BHP Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations;
  • An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development;
  • Plan & Schedule the work to ensure work management is executed efficiently;
  • Ensure materials and equipment are available for completion of scheduled work;
  • Assist with development of site budgets and 5 Year Plan to ensure upcoming routine and project work is suitably identified and resourced;
  • Participate in Field Leadership activities to ensure adherence to safety procedures.
  • Work with a within a dynamic team.
  • Assist with Contractor Management and on boarding of contractors including training requirements
About You


The successful candidate will ideally possess maintenance planning experience within an open cut coalmine and previous experience working within a 1SAP planning and scheduling environment would be advantageous.


Other attributes will include:


  • Strong computer and analytical skills and the ability to offer solutions in a fast paced and high-pressure environment will ensure success in this role.
  • Working within a team environment, your strong communication and interpersonal skills will be essential in allowing you to build relationships across departments and to communicate with disciplines at all levels.


Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Desired Experience

  • Maintenance Planning skills;
  • 1SAP Planning Skills;
  • Leading Planning Meeting skills;
  • Computer literacy, along with experience in computer based maintenance management (SAP preferred)
