About the role:

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, Gladstone, we are recruiting for a full time fixed term (12 months) electrician to undertakes the full range of testing, fault finding, and repair of electrical faults on vessels along with new installations and ongoing maintenance. 

Key accountabilities of the role:

  • Isolate, disconnect, remove and reinstall on board equipment and machinery
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Ability to problem solve and have excellent diagnostic/fault finding  skills
  • Ability to examine, analyse and record data during the process of undertaking repairs
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, productive and safe working environment
  • The ability to inspect and critically evaluate work
  • Accurately complete timesheets, project sheets and associated paperwork
  • Proven technical aptitude
  • Order stock and project items

About you:

  • Understand and work within industry OH&S regulations
  • The ability to inspect and critically evaluate work
  • Accurately complete timesheets, project sheets and associated paperwork
  • Ability to work unsupervised and/or part of a team
  • Ability and flexibility to meet deadlines
  • Willingness to work overtime
  • Have a strong attention to detail and cleanliness

 

Qualifications

To be considered for this opportunity applicants will hold:

  • CPR/LVR  
  • Australian recognised trade certificate/diploma.
  • Unrestricted Queensland Electrical license
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and ongoing random drug and alcohol screening
  • Have a “can do” attitude and a positive and professional outlook
  • While marine experience is preferred, a background in either automotive electrical or other electrical trade would be considered for the right applicant

This is a shore side position, not a rostered position. Work hours are 35 hours per week (Monday to Thursday) with five weeks annual leave/annum and Super. The successful candidates are required to reside in the Gladstone region, and will be required to satisfy a company pre-employment medical.
