Gladstone Women’s Health Centre is a not-for-profit organisation that has been serving the Gladstone Region for over 29 years. We provide generalist Women’s Health Services and counselling, group therapy, support, information and referral for women, and children who have experienced Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified women to fill this role in the Gladstone Region.
Employment is commensurate with experience and qualifications under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award, 2010.

About the Role
This position is primarily responsible for providing specialised counselling to women and young people who have been sexually abused, in a therapeutic, strengths-based framework.
In this role, you will also have the opportunity to facilitate and develop group programs to respond to client and community need.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or above qualification in social work, psychology, family therapy or similar discipline.
- Experience working with women and young people who have experienced sexual violence
- A thorough understanding of case management practice informed by a gender analysis of violence against women and children, the impact of trauma, human rights, and feminist theory.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport and foster harmonious and collaborative relationships internally and with external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated resilience and aptitude in working with complex and important matters, sound judgement and ability to prioritise competing demands.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite skills (Word. Excel, Outlook).
- Current valid C-class driver’s license.
- Emotional strength to work in an environment where exposed to people who have been abused and who experience mental heal issues.
- Ability to successfully pass a police check Working with Children Check (blue card).
- Confidentiality and experience with working with personal and sensitive information.
- Lives locally in the Gladstone Region or is willing to relocate to the area.
- Membership of a Professional body associated with the position's prime purpose.

- Appropriate undergraduate tertiary qualifications in the social or behavioural sciences.
- Demonstrated experience, and theoretical knowledge of, sexual abuse in a variety of settings, for example women, children, young people, and groups.
- Previous experience in managing caseloads and effective time management.
- Knowledge and application of relevant legislation and regulations, specifically Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) Act 1978, or ability to rapidly acquire.
- Demonstrated competency in computer use (Microsoft Office, email, and ability to learn new programs).
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Capacity to engage constructively and respectfully with individuals of diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, abilities and genders, to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes and promote the principles of social justice, effective consultation and equitable access to services – particularly for those identified as vulnerable or at risk.
