Sales and Support Engineer-Mining and Minerals Specialist

Primary Objective:

  • To promote and grow the sales of Hawk’s products by providing process measurement consultation and solutions to customers in mining and minerals.
  • To provide customers with a high level of after sales service and technical support. 

Develop and implement sales strategies to increase sales from existing customers, acquire competitors’ customers and develop new customers in mining and minerals industries.

Role Description:

  • Reporting to Regional Sales Manager
  • Be conversant with all Hawk’s products features, benefits, and application.
  • Continually prospect for new opportunities 
  • Maintain regular face-to-face and phone contact with all clients. 
  • Manage customers to create tailored business solutions.
  • Develop and recommend annual sales forecasts for the region/business propose budgets and advise management on the market strategies required to achieve sales targets.
  • Plan and manage the sales effort in the region 
  • Monitor the market within the region of control and advise management of changes in competition, product availability, quality reports or related matters.  Participate in the development of a marketing policy, recommending product inclusions and pricing changes.
  • Collaborate with other internal sales personnel or external as nominated in the planning and executing of special projects and programs within the regions.
  • Develop new business opportunities with new and existing clients and attend to key accounts personally to ensure satisfaction.
  • Participate in the recruitment, selection and training of sales staff
  • Ensure business negotiations are undertaken under advice from Regional Sales Manager and Hawk CEO

Attributes & Experience

This position requires the person to have or acquire the following skill set;

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in mechanical, electrical engineering, instrumentation disciplines form certificate level to degree level.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct presentations.
  • At least three (3) years sales experience in the application of industrial instrumentation preferably in mining and minerals.
  • Ability to read, analyse and interpret common scientific and technical papers, drawings, journals, financial reports and legal documents.
  • Excellent negotiation and customer service skills
  • Excellent time management skills for scheduling, prioritising and managing sales tasks.
  • Demonstrated disciplined approach to planning, conducting and reporting sales activity.
  • Strong financial acumen, analytical and problem solving skills
