What we do in Australia
ConocoPhillips Australia was established almost two decades ago. Headquartered in Brisbane, Queensland, we are a 47.5 percent shareholder in Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG) and operate the APLNG facility on Curtis Island. As the largest producer of natural gas in eastern Australia, we supply Australian customers with natural gas and international customers with liquefied natural gas. ConocoPhillips is also undertaking exploration activity in the Otway Basin to identify commercially viable natural gas reserves for supply to the domestic market.
About the opportunity
Reporting to the Site HSE Supervisor, ConocoPhillips Australia is excited to bring to market the full-time position of Safety & Industrial Hygiene Advisor, based at the APLNG Facility on Curtis Island, Gladstone.
The Safety & Industrial Hygiene Advisor will provide effective Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Coordination and support to the downstream operation of the Australian Business Unit (ABU). This includes effective collaboration with ConocoPhillips and contractor counterparts to aid with the implementation of the HSE Management System ensuring safe and responsible activities are executed in compliance with both internal and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will drive the Industrial Hygiene program and advance a positive HSE culture through a learning organization philosophy focusing on continual improvement and industry best practice.
Day to day, the Safety & Industrial Hygiene Advisor will be accountable for, but not limited to:
- Drive performance of the Personal Safety Involvement (PSI) and Life Saving Rule Verification(LSRV) processes
- Ensure regulatory compliance is maintained with regards to HSE management within the facility
- Execute the Industrial Hygiene Exposure Assessment Plan and maintain compliance with the Occupational Health Standard
- Support Learning Organization fundamentals to achieve leading safety practices
- Provide facility support in relation to HSE policies, standards and relevant HSE Management System information
- Attend and interact with operations team members and contractors at pre-start and HSE meetings
- Conduct quality incident investigations and recommend SMART actions to promote continual improvement and provide feedback on proactive safety performance and lessons learnt
- Administration of hazard cards, chemical approvals, and industrial hygiene data and ensure timely maintenance and calibration of Industrial Hygiene sampling equipment
About you
You will be an experienced and motivated HSE professional, along with a tertiary qualification in HSE, Industrial Hygiene or similar. You will have the ability to engage with a diverse workforce and continually influence others towards a culture of continuous improvement in HSE performance.
You will also bring to the role:
- Highly skilled in HSE investigations, report writing, data management, analytics and problem solving
- Experience in identifying and assessing health stressors including the development of Industrial Hygiene exposure monitoring plans
- Experience in Occupational Hygiene and conducting personal exposure monitoring
- Sound written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with various stakeholders and management
Experience in the following is preferred but not essential:
- Practical resources sector field experience
- Experience with Cority Industrial Hygiene database program and ChemAlert chemical management program
- Experience in the use of sampling equipment including noise dosimeters, sound level meter, passive badges, active air sampling pumps
- Membership with the AIOH
