About the role

Queensland's energy system is transforming to create reliable, clean and affordable energy to power generations to come. Powerlink is at the heart of this, and to support critical project work across the state, we are excited to announce the establishing of an operational hub in Gladstone.

We are now seeking licenced and AD-qualified Electricians / Technicians to form our brand new Secondary Systems field crew, working safely to optimise existing equipment, resolve complex problems, and upgrade our network to deliver safe and reliable electricity to over 5 million Queenslanders.

Our Protection and Metering Engineering Officers undertake a large proportion of pre-commissioning testing and commissioning work for refurbishments and new projects, together with maintenance work as you contribute to the completion of the work portfolio. Your role will also include completing diagnostic and investigative services as well as repairing complex Protection systems and assisting with Energy Metering systems.

About you

You have a passion to provide high quality customer service, enjoy continual learning, working in a team, and developing expertise on technologically advanced systems.

You have a Queensland Electrical licence/relevant Electronics Trade certificate, an AD or equivalent in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (you may be currently completing this study or are prepared to undertake with support from Powerlink).

Your previous success demonstrates your ability to effectively use automated and microprocessor controlled test instruments for use on Protection and Metering equipment and interfaces with Secondary systems; analyse and fault find on complex electrical circuitry and schemes; perform HV switching, secondary isolation and secondary systems work programs; and prepare Technical Reports and Work Procedures.

To work on Queensland's high voltage network all new employees without relevant experience will undertake structured high quality training in order to acquire the necessary skills and licences.
