Principal – Regulatory Compliance and Corporate Assets
Tenure: Permanent Full Time
Circa $125,000 Total Remuneration Package
Banana Shire is situated in Central Queensland, which is located 120 km west of the growing industrial city and port of Gladstone and 150 kms from Rockhampton. Our population is approximately 15,000 people spread over 28,577 square kilometres.
Council has a unique opportunity for a suitably experienced and motivated individual to lead the Rural Services, Compliance, Building Services and Land and Lease Management teams. This diverse role will provide you with a chance to further develop your skills in the management of statutory compliance, property management and cultural heritage.
Day to day, you will
Coordinate, lead and maximise the performance of your teams
Oversee the provision of accurate and timely dissemination of information and technical advice from your teams
Authorise the issue of statutory notices
Assist your teams to implement change enablement processes
Cultivate strong team relationships
Manage staff, internal as well as sub-contractor staff as required
About the Person
You will have a proven experience in managing diverse teams with different needs and focuses and your business knowledge is enhanced by your excellent teamwork focus together with your mentorship and communication skills.
You will likely hold tertiary level qualifications in either Regulatory Compliance or Investigation, Property Management or Public Administration. You will have experience leading, supervising and mentoring in Local Government organisations or similar organisations and will understand the importance of developing excellent working relationships with all.
To be successful in the role, ideally you will have the following skills and experience:
Highly developed project management skills
Highly developed regulatory compliance or investigation skills
Highly developed property management skills
Extensive experience in public administration.

To be considered for this role you must possess or be able to demonstrate the following:
Tertiary qualification in a relevant field, or relevant equivalent experience
Queensland C class drivers licence
Leadership and mentoring skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Sound understanding of and proven ability to analyse and interpret legislation
Proven ability to motivate teams to meet goals and deadlines
