About the role: 

We’re currently seeking an energetic, self-motivated Operational Technology Specialist. This is a full-time permanent role based at our Mackay office in Paget. The role will be reporting to the Operations Superintendent and rosters are flexible and will be discussed at interview stage. 

As the Operational Technology Specialist, you will be responsible for the installation, calibration, and support of operational technology (OT). Some of the OT solutions are high precision machine guidance, Fleet Management Systems and WI-FI networks and site-related safety systems. 

The successful applicant will be flexible and capable to travel to various locations. They will be a solutions focused self- starter and will have a pragmatic approach to problem solving. This role will include motor vehicle, laptop, and mobile phone. It is also subject to pre-employment medical assessment and police check.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Install HPGPS and FMS on a large range of heavy mining vehicles. 
  • Undertaking maintenance, diagnostic and troubleshooting (repair based) activities.
  • Conducing preventive maintenance during shutdowns on OT equipment
  • Reading Electrical schematics.
  • Sourcing technical information from available reference manuals, OEM and computer- based systems.
  • Updating software and firmware remotely and on site.
  • Fabrication and modification of mounting brackets. 
  • Undertaking administration tasks, like re-starts, job sheets, timesheets, client reports, Job Safety Analysis (JSA’s) etc.
  • Maintain records and complete reports, paperwork and data input as required.
  • Proactive focus toward safety and hazard identification.
  • Complying with SWMS / JHA’s and relevant safety procedures both onsite and in workshops.

About you:

  • Ability to work within the mining and civil sector and operate within the various site conditions (i.e. Drug testing, heat /cold, fatigue limits, remote work, and ad hoc rosters).
  • Ability to work away at short notice when required by clients.
  • Able to do shift work (12 hrs when onsite and to a maximum of 8 days).
  • Ability to work alone and unsupervised in remote areas.
  • Strong sense of ownership, be initiative and work well in a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong practical and technical experience.
  • Self-motivated and professional attitude.
  • Company and customer focused.

Required:

  • A current QLD driver’s license

Desirable:

  • Standard 11
  • HR license preferred.
  • EWP and Work at Heights Qualifications preferred.
  • Australian Recognised Trade Qualification
