About the role

An exciting opportunity exists for a Project Management Office (PMO) Manager at our Yarwun Continuous Manufacturing site.

Strategically located in Gladstone, Central Queensland, Orica Yarwun is an integral part of the company’s global operations and makes an important contribution to the local and broader Gladstone community. The facility includes a cyanide plant, three nitric acid plants, two ammonium nitrate plants and a product dispatch facility.

The PMO’s mandate includes the management and delivery of the manufacturing project portfolio.  The PMO Manager is responsible for program performance, project performance and delivery success. The Manager also uses knowledge, experience, and leadership effectively to align the program approach with Orica's strategy, improve the delivery of program benefits, enhance collaboration with stakeholders, and manage the program life cycle.

What you will be doing

 

  • Managing a team of Project Managers and Engineers to deliver the assigned portfolio of projects;
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely with a high-quality focus, as per agreed scope, schedule, and budget;
  • Serve as primary point of contact for the asset owner, developing strong relationships and managing stakeholder expectations;
  • Setting and embedding consistent methods, standards, and processes for the Project Management Office;
  • Develops utilisation targets for the project teams ensuring members are highly utilised and have a clear line of site of their current and future workloads and documented individual accountabilities;
  • Ensuring that project and engineering teams are appropriately trained in project management principles and Orica governance processes.
     

What you will bring

 

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in the management of capital projects in petrochemical, manufacturing, or mineral processing plants;
  • Degree in an engineering discipline, or equivalent experience;
  • Exposure to managing a team of project management or multi-disciplinary professionals;
  • Strong project execution focus;
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and lead cross-functional and multi-disciplinary project teams;
  • Demonstrated skills associated with building strong customer and stakeholder relations.
