HSE is a leading specialist provider of large-scale contract mining operations to Australia’s major mining companies, operating a large class-leading fleet of specialised mining equipment that provides reliable and innovative earthmoving services.  At Bluff Coal Mine, HSE operates both large and medium pre-strip fleets on a seven day continuous roster.

Full time permanent role on offer for an experienced Maintenance Superintendent on a 9 day fortnight roster reporting to Fleet Manager. You will provide management and leadership to the maintenance department at our Bluff Coal mine site. This role will work closely with the Project Manager and maintenance team to ensure the delivery of all site based maintenance activities in a safe and efficient manner. Your ability to build relationships and a willingness to help others develop will be highly valued.

About the role:

  • Manage a high level of safety, environmental standards and compliance
  • Drive safe, efficient and effective work practices onsite
  • Manage, develop and lead maintenance team
  • Drive accountability of the mining fleet to meet operational requirements
  • Effectively allocate and control labour 
  • Manage and coordinate planned and unplanned workshop and field service activities and breakdown response
  • Continuous improvement of mobile equipment maintenance activities and cost saving initiatives

  • Demonstrated commitment to safety
  • Commitment to the Values and Code of Conduct of HSE Mining 
  • Heavy duty diesel fitting background and relevant trade qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising, scheduling, forecasting and budgeting exposure to large scale mining equipment such as as excavators, graders, dozers and dump trucks
  • Demonstrated ability to identify problems, exceptional troubleshooting skills and demonstrated ability to generate alternative solutions    
  • Excellent planning, time management and organisational skills
  • Demonstrated experience in performance management and the effective management of people so that departmental and organisational KPIs are achieved
  • intermediate skills in the MS office packages
  • Demonstrated capacity to communicate at all levels within an organisation in a professional manner
