Maintenance Leading Hand - Coal Mining

GO2 are seeking two experienced Maintenance Leading hands for an ongoing position with our highly reputable Mining contractor, between Rockhampton and Bundaberg. This opportunity will be ongoing & provide the opportunity to transition to full-time for high performing employees.

  • $65.00 + OT RATE

Scope of work:

  • Discharge HSE responsibilities incorporation the implementation and maintenance of safe systems of work.
  • Provide leadership to the workshop maintenance crews to achieve the maintenance plan.
  • Work to priorities as advised by Maintenance Superintendents.
  • Work with Maintenance Superintendents to ensure quality maintenance performance, including asset availability and reliability.
  • Effectively contribute as a member of the maintenance leadership team to help deliver department goals and outcomes.
  • Promote a culture of continual improvement throughout the team.
  • Work with Maintenance Superintendents to ensure effective resource allocation such as people, equipment, support equipment to meet maintenance work targets.
  • Track maintenance performance and ensure operational issues are managed and communicated in a timely manner.
  • Work with Maintenance Superintendents to review plant performance and oversee the implementation of remedial of preventative actions where required.
  • Monitor subcontractor work to ensure it is carried out in accordance with business requirements.
  • Ensure maintenance employees maintain safe systems of work.
  • Hold team members accountable for their actions and areas of responsibility.
  • Liaise with Maintenance Superintendents in developing daily, weekly and monthly work plans.
  • Liaise with Maintenance Superintendents to ensure plant availability needed to meet production requirements.
  • Communicate to maintenance employees' objectives (ongoing and improvement), measures and targets, monitor performance against expectations and facilitate training, coaching and other development activities.
  • Ensure investigation, counselling or disciplinary action is applied in line with company procedures.


  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Coal Board Medical
  • Standard 11
  • Minimum 5 years' experience with Coal Mining
  • Trade Qualified with extensive experience in maintenance of mining plant and equipment
  • S1,2,3 & G2
  • Ability to work within a team and autonomously
  • High regard for safety & a high standard of work quality
