ABOUT US

 

The Capricornia Cruising Yacht Club is located on beautiful Rosslyn Bay Harbour and consists of a Clubhouse, parking area, eighty boat storage allotments, haul out facilities for both mono and multi hull vessels up to 10 tones, a work area, private boat ramp, pontoon, and caretaker’s cottage.

 

Job Description – PERMANENT PART TIME ROLE WITH ON SITE ACCOMMODATION

 

We are seeking a highly motivated, organized, reliable and experienced Maintenance & Handyperson to fill the role of CCYC Caretaker.

The posting involves caretaking duties across all areas of the CCYC operations. On site accommodation and utilities included in package.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CARETAKER

 

Supervise and coordinate the loading & berthing of pontoon usage, vessel storage facilities, and vessel maintenance & work area usage.

Maintain boat yard, buildings gardens and grounds.

Provide manual support to bar staff with unloading stock.

Cleaning of Club House and surrounds

Provide security presence.

Participate in WHS system implementation, review, and continual improvement.

Operate Club Winch to launch and retrieve vessels as required.

Operate Club Tractor to launch and retrieve boats within the boat storage area, and those on Club mono and multi hull trailers during haul out.

Maintain Work Area tidiness, monitor environmental filter systems, oil storage facility and waste disposal records.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

 

Mechanical knowledge and aptitude

Australian Driver’s License, Boat License, and ability to drive a tractor.

Knowledge of winch operations and haul out procedures.

Knowledge of commercial cleaning practices and general gardens and grounds maintenance

Physical capacity to lift weights up to 20kg, operate machinery and perform manual labour.

A flexible and courteous attitude when dealing with Club members.

Demonstrate sound knowledge of WHS best practices with continual compliance and enforcement.

Demonstrate sound knowledge of EPA procedures in a commercial waterfront location.

Attention to detail and excellent communication skills.

 

The Caretaker is required to work a 25-hour week based on a permanent part time basis, Monday Friday with some weekend availability required as paid overtime.

Due to the need for on site security and observation the Caretaker will be provided with all utilities covered, on site accommodation.
