Laboratory Technician

Job Description

Mackay Regional Council has an exciting opportunity for a qualified Laboratory Technician to join our Water Treatment team based at the new state-of-the-art Water and Waste Scientific and Analytical Services laboratory at Connors Road Paget. This position is permanent fulltime working a 9 day fortnight roster.


This role will assist in carrying out physical, chemical and microbiological testing on water and wastewater samples within a NATA (National Association of Testing Authorities) accredited laboratory and carry out any other incidental tasks. 


The successful applicant will:

  • Have a formal qualification in laboratory work (Certificate III in Laboratory Techniques or equivalent)
  • Hold a current “C” class driver’s licence
  • Demonstrate a good level of computer skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Have previous practical experience in routine sampling and analysis techniques.
