PROGRAMMED, in partnership with Opal Holdings Calliope has an exciting opportunity for 2 Horticulture traineeships commencing January 2024.

Programmed are seeking motivated applicants that have an interest in working outdoors carrying out horticultural activities including, parks and garden maintenance, noxious weed control and tree work with a strong desire to work in the horticulture - parks and gardens industry and have the drive to commit to a 12-month Traineeship.
Working as a Horticulture Trainee at Opal Holdings in Calliope/Gladstone region may see you completing the following tasks:
To be considered you must have the following:
- mowing, snipping, brush cutting
- trimming and hedging
- mulching and weeding
- turf preparation
- irrigation work
- planting and tree maintenance
- plant identification (native and exotic species)
- work as a team member
- attend safety Toolbox Talks, contribute to the team's safety
- competent numeracy and literacy skills
- positive attitude
- current drivers' licence and reliable transport
- completed year 10 education at a minimum
- General Construction Induction Card (White Card) prior to commencement
- demonstrated enthusiasm for horticulture industry
- demonstrated capacity to work as a team member
- demonstrated capacity to work safely with a zero-harm attitude
The position can be directed to work anywhere within the Opal Holdings Gladstone region however the trainees will be rotated between 3 main depots located in the Gladstone region.
You will also be required to attend TAFE one day per fortnight in Gladstone at CQ University Gladstone.
Prior to any offer of employment, the successful applicant will be required to attend a pre-employment medical which will include passing a drug and alcohol screen.
Additional training may be required prior to and during the traineeship.
