About the Job 

Centurion are seeking a Heavy Vehicle Driver Trainer & Assessor to join our team based at our Rockhampton depot. Responsible for verifying new and existing drivers are competent to operate our heavy vehicles and trailers. Your responsibilities will include Driver Inductions/ Assessments (MC, HC and HR), mentoring and working with the HSEQ team to develop and deliver various training packages.


  • Complete verification of competencies (VOC) on drivers - MC, HC & HR Licences
  • Inducting all subcontractors
  • Verifying heavy vehicle licences and experience of employees and contractors
  • Ensuring training is completed in a timely manner
  • Provide direction and support to supervisors and managers to allow continuous improvement
  • Travel to various locations to complete VOCs
  • Develop training needs analysis to ensure all aspects of driver competency are covered
  • Promote our company RIPPA values
  •  Assist in undertaking workplace assessments and audits
  • Assist in policy and process development and comply with all company policies and procedures
  • Participate in incident investigations as a subject matter expert (SME for Load Restraint, CoR, Mass Management, Fatigue etc.)
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant workplace health & safety requirements and road transport laws.
  • Responsible and accountable for a safe working environment reporting any safety incidents or concerns to the Manager or Supervisor
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant OH&S requirements
  • Conforming to quality systems and procedures

Skills and Experience

  • Current MC Driver Licence 
  • Current LF High Risk Licence
  • Current DG Licence
  • Experience in conducting driving assessments (Mandatory)
  • Experience in driving multi combinations (Mandatory)
  • Cert IV in Training and Assessment (Mandatory)
  • Cert IV in Transport and Logistics (Desirable)
  • Experience and knowledge in Workplace Health & Safety
  • High levels of written and verbal communication
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
  • Ability to train in CoR, Fatigue Management, Load Restraint, Mass Management 
  • Experience in working for a large logistics company
  • Ability to work as a team
