Headspace Community Engagement Worker

Job Description

Part-time (60hours per fortnight)

$32 p/h + superannuation (June 2023)

About the role:

We are looking for people who want to turn their passion into their purpose. We are currently seeking a Community Engagement Worker to join our headspace team in Emerald. Their role is to help promote headspace Emerald and the services they offer and help young people in the region get early access to health and other services. 

Our new Community Engagement Worker will also help to increase community awareness of mental health issues among young people, facilitate youth and where relevant family participation, organise and deliver health promotion activities and community events to engage identified target populations.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or experience in community or youth engagement, health promotion, public health or community capacity-building activities
  • Full COVID-19 Vaccination
  • Blue Card (Working with Children Check Positive Notice or Exemption)
  • Yellow Card (Disability Services Positive Notice or Exemption Notice
  • Demonstrated experience working with young people with mental health, alcohol and other drug, and other social issues
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating and facilitating youth programs, events and activities within a community setting
  • Strong experience and expertise with social media as a communication tool
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate community awareness programs

Desirable:

  • Experience in the not-for-profit/non-government sector
  • Experience in the mental health sector

  • A strong communicator, able to quickly build rapport and influence across a diverse range of people
