Job Description

Situated on the beautiful Capricorn Coast, St Brendan’s College is a Catholic School in the Edmund Rice Tradition and has been a leader in boys’ education in Central Queensland since 1940. We are a day and boarding school for boys from Years 7 to 12, located on a beautiful 300 acres only minutes to the beaches of Yeppoon and half an hour from Rockhampton.

St Brendan’s College, Yeppoon is seeking several motivated individuals to join our Property & Services Team.  

As the Grounds Assistant you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to various departments while performing duties such as upkeep of lawn, gardening and general care of landscape on our beautiful campus. 

Responsibilities & duties will encompass a wide range of tasks, including: 

  • Assist grounds staff with general maintenance and development of turf areas and surrounds, e.g., grass cutting, weeding and clearance of leaves as well as general maintenance of paths, stormwater, drains, and gutters.
  • Playing a crucial role in the preservation of our lush greenery, you will assist with tree and garden maintenance, encompassing ground preparation, planting, turfing, seeding, and pruning.

As the Maintenance Assistant you will demonstrate your expertise in property maintenance and grounds care, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols. Working in collaboration with various departments within the College to ensure the seamless upkeep of our buildings. 

Responsibilities & duties will encompass a wide range of tasks, including: 

  • Labouring activities, furniture relocations, function setup, operate select machinery.
  • Assist in the general maintenance of school buildings by carrying out required repairs and completing scheduled maintenance of fixtures and fittings. 
  • Assist in the maintenance of playing surfaces, including setting up of fields.

Essential Criteria

  • Expertise and experience in the area applied for, a trade certificate is highly desirable.
  • Class C Driver's License
  • Blue Card - PAID
  • A willingness to be involved in co-curricular activities of the College.
