Council is seeking to appoint a permanent full time Exhibitions and Collections Officer to contribute to the success of the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum (GRAGM).

About the Role

Gladstone Regional Council’s Art Gallery and Museum is one of the Region’s most iconic locations. Based in the heritage old town hall and supported by a highly skilled and passionate team of professionals, this role will be critical in exhibition planning and delivery, as well as in Collection Care and Conservation of GRAGM’s valuable collection.

The purpose of this position is to facilitate the programming, installation, and delivery of the art and social history exhibitions at GRAGM. Under the direction of the Curator, this role also implements GRAGM’s Collection Management strategies.

GRAGM’s calendar of exhibitions is exciting and engaging. Led by the Curator, the team work to connect with community through a variety of exhibitions and programs.

As Exhibitions and Collections Officer, you will:

  •          Work with the Curator to develop, design and deliver GRAGM’s annual program of exhibitions.
  •          Project manage exhibition installs and supporting programs.
  •          Facilitate the research, documentation, and registration of the GRAGM arts and social history collections.
  •          Work closely with artists to build capacity and capability – encouraging emerging artists to exhibit in a professional setting and
  •          Be responsible for implementing collection management strategies.

In this role, you will be an independent thinker, a flexible team player and enjoy connecting with artists to grow capacity. You will have a genuine care for our collection and understand the importance of good collection management principles.

You will bring:

·         Tertiary Qualification in Collections Care, Conservation, Museums Studies, Project Management or equivalent demonstrated experience working with exhibitions and gallery and/or museum collections.

·         Strong interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills and experience liaising with customers and internal and external stakeholders.

·         Time management, prioritisation and planning skills in order to complete task within required timeframes.

·         Must be eligible and willing to obtain on appointment, a positive notice Working with Children Blue Card.
