Reporting to the Engineering Manager, an exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Engineering Superintendent to join the Oaky Creek Coal Engineering Team.  

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Strong Safety Leadership
  • Promoting the Glencore Asset Management Framework as the way we do business.
  • Supporting the operational strategy by achieving and/or exceeding budgeted production rates, machine reliability and availability time and consistently deliver planned levels of equipment performance in all areas of the operation.
  • Providing support and advice across all engineering process areas including improvement of the maintenance strategies, effective delay and root cause analysis, work order compliance and use of technology and innovation where it adds value.
  • Developing in conjunction with other key stakeholders the Life of Mine (LOM) equipment plan to ensure existing asset usage is optimised and to identify where and by when new equipment will be required.
  • Developing and maintaining the department operating and capital budgets from first principles to ensure that the LOM forecast can be achieved.
  • Managing and providing guidance to a small team of project engineers responsible for all underground equipment procurement and overhauls to deliver quality outcomes on time and within budget.
  • Ensuring scope of work documentation standards are high and well written prior to any tender process commencing.
  • Overseeing the engineering departments monthly and annual commercial obligations inclusive of applications for expenditure and contract approvals.
  • Implementing the formation and use of contracts wherever possible to get the best possible outcome for the business.
  • Driving operational excellence and continuous improvement into the maintenance planning processes.
  • Deputise for the Engineering Manager in their absence.

About you:

  • 10 years industry experience in either Electrical or Mechanical engineering.
  • Qualifications in Engineering and/or Asset Management is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in a similar role with leadership capabilities in relation to high performing teams.
  • Strong work ethic essential.
  • Ability to influence others and drive change.
  • Have an appreciation of the bigger picture.
  • High levels of resourcefulness, versatility, initiative, personal organisation, and diplomacy.
  • Advanced Analytical and problem-solving skills.
