Metallurgical coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate two open cut and three underground metallurgical coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, every year producing millions of tonnes of the highest quality hard coking coal for this purpose.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Electrical Supervisor to join our Maintenance team at our CHPP at Dawson Mine in Moura.
Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, this role will be accountable for managing the coordination of personnel, equipment, and resources to complete electrical maintenance activities to ensure compliance.
The Electrical Supervisor will ensure scheduled and unscheduled maintenance is completed in line with safety and statutory obligations and will achieve this through active engagement and effective leadership.

In addition, you will have substantial supervisory experience within an electrical role while having a solid understanding of role requirements. Demonstrated experience managing a team to deliver against KPIs and dedication to driving business improvement is required.
To be successful in this role you must have a strong background within the Electrical environment, an understanding of the coal handling process, including CHPP Processing plant delivery systems, product handling and train load out systems with an understanding of power line infrastructure.
A basic understanding of mining techniques is desired as well as experience within the open cut coal mining environment and a clear understanding of statutory requirements.
The role requires a constant focus on providing the business context and understanding to the team, providing technical information to the team, and developing the capability of the trades' people to provide reliable equipment operation. The role also requires strong capability with respect to having difficult conversations and seeking and passing on valuable feedback from trades to ensure safety and maintenance standards are upheld, and key hazards are communicated, recorded, and actions allocated to rectify.
Your commitment to the Anglo-American safety culture will also be imperative.
- You will have relevant Electrical Trade qualifications (Electrical Fitter & Electrical Mechanic License).
- High Voltage Switching certs desirable but not essential.
- S1 S2 S3, G2.
- Confident with the use of Microsoft Office and SAP or the equivalate of a maintenance strategy system is desired but not essential
