Diesel Mechanic

Job Description

Our team in Gladstone are looking for a qualified Diesel Mechanic to join the CQ transport team.

Your goal is to make sure we have our fleet of heavy vehicles on the road and operating safely. To do this, you’ll perform preventative maintenance and driveline repairs, maintaining both prime movers and pneumatic tankers. You’ll be a part of a team of fitters working to achieve fleet availability goals. We’ll provide you with the training you need to maintain our specialised equipment and in return you get an opportunity to develop your career at Cement Australia.

About the role:

As our Diesel Mechanic, you will:

  • Maintain company fleet in accordance to Cement Australia’s national maintenance policy and relevant Australian standards
  • Attend to breakdowns and scheduled repairs with minimal downtime and at minimal cost
  • Work to achieve set workshop productivity targets
  • Stay in constant communication with the allocations team to ensure equipment is repaired and available to meet fleet availability targets
  • Ensure spare parts inventory is kept to a minimum without compromising turnaround times of the fleet
  • Be responsible for prompt and accurate completion of fleet repair and maintenance paperwork
  • Keep the workshop area clean, tidy and maintained to our SHE standardsAbout you:
  • Qualified Diesel Fitter, with considerable post-apprenticeship experience
  • A focus on working safely at all times and supporting a positive safety culture
  • Ability to work well in a fast paced workshop environment
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
  • Ability to communicate with drivers to diagnose equipment faults
  • Previous experience on North American drive lines and brands
  • Be prepared to participate in a rostered after hours equipment breakdown support team
  • Perform a reasonable amount of overtime as required
  • Previous experience in maintaining a large fleet of on highway heavy vehicles
  • Heavy vehicle licence is preferred, or the willingness to obtain one
