Council is seeking to appoint a Permanent Full Time Development Engineer to contribute to Council’s success.

About the Role

The purpose of this position is to provide specialised professional engineering contributions to the statutory development assessment process and strategic infrastructure planning considerations for development within Gladstone Regional Council, in a manner which provides the community with a high level of confidence in Council to ensure development reflects Council’s desired objectives and standards, and that developer delivered infrastructure is fit-for-purpose.

Essential criteria

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and high-level disciplined knowledge and substantial experience in engineering design and development assessment (engineering related).

2. Substantial experience in interpreting engineering plans and studies and high-quality report writing.

3. Registered Professional Engineers of Queensland (RPEQ) certification, or ability to rapidly acquire.

4. Experience preparing, analysing and interpreting Engineering advice and Plans.

5. Experience in applying and enforcing guidelines, relevant Acts and Regulations, engineering guidelines and standards.

6. Knowledge of and experience in the application of Development Assessment System and planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of civil infrastructure and facilities.

7. High level of collaboration and negotiation skills to successfully engage and influence key stakeholders.

8. Experience communicating with developers, contractors, service authorities, consulting engineers and senior management.

9. Demonstrable skills in planning, prioritising and organising work activities for self

10. Expert knowledge of Queensland and local design standard relation to road works, water supply, sewerage and stormwater.

11. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and independently.

12. Sound communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.

13. Proficient keyboard skills and experience using Microsoft Office Suite and operating corporate business systems.

14. Legally able to drive a motor vehicle in Queensland.
