Cremator Operator/Grounds person

The Rockhampton Crematorium is a locally owned and operated business conducting Cremation Services in our chapel and placement of memorials in our Garden of Remembrance.
We currently have a position available for a Cremator Operator/Grounds person to join our small team. Work will involve mowing, snipping, hedge trimming, fertilizing, spraying including herbicides/pesticides, watering, general garden maintenance and placing of memorials. Operating the cremator and processing equipment and ensuring ashes are prepared for handling with the correct paperwork. Training will be provided.
The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience.
- The physical strength to perform lifting, landscaping and general maintenance duties.
- A Manual Drivers License preferred.
- The ability to use tools, machinery and equipment for maintenance of grounds.
- Demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- The capacity to be at ease working in a crematoria environment.
- Willingness to work as part of a team as well as independently carrying out tasks.
- The ability to be sensitive towards grieving family and friends.
- Previous experience in the Crematorium/Cemetery industry would be an advantage but not essential.
