Catholic Education in the Diocese of Rockhampton invites applications from suitably qualified applicants for the position of College Counsellor, who will provide counselling services to the students at Holy Spirit College, Mackay.
About the role
The College Counsellor has a focus on fostering the development and mental health of all students. This is achieved by applying counselling skills and engaging in individual and group interventions. The College Counsellor is a certified professional who works in partnership with the schools by contributing specialised knowledge and skills in a collaborative manner.
In this role you will be working with the counselling team at Holy Spirit College and supported by the Counselling Services Coordinator.
About You
The successful applicant will have relevant experience and an understanding of, and a commitment to, the ethos of Catholic Education. In addition, you will have excellent time management skills, well developed interpersonal skills and a high proficiency of computer skills. Relevant tertiary qualifications at degree level are required.
Mandatory requirements
- Have a commitment to the ethos and values of Catholic Education
- Minimum required qualifications are a relevant 4 year undergraduate degree eg: B. Social Work, B. Psychology (Hons), B. Psychological Science (Hons), B. Behavioural Science (Hons), B. Social Science (Psych Hons), B. Science (Psych Hons). Other relevant 3-year degree + Masters SW (professional qualifying). B Education + Masters Guidance & Counselling.
- Maintain registration with relevant governing body (e.g., AHPRA, QCT)
- Have highly developed counselling skills.
- Hold current blue card registration under the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 (WWC Act) and valid Suitability Notice OR hold current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
