Reporting to the Manager Safety and Wellness, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating and fostering a proactive risk management and safety culture at Council whilst keeping in line with legislative requirements and best practice concepts.
Leading a small team the primary objective of the role is to build leadership and organisational capability in ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for all staff and contractors, by ensuring councils compliance to all relevant Work Health and Safety legislation.
This is a critical position for Council and will require a thorough and demonstratable knowledge (acquired through experience) of the Workplace Health and Safety and wellness and interpretation of local government legislation and WHS policy. Also important will be your knowledge of safe practice of a wide scope of functions in different areas of council.
Whether you've been an ambassador of Safety at the mines, construction sites or remote areas, this particular role will not be the same; You will cover a vast range of inquiries and cases unique to Council.
