About the opportunity:

Our Cook Colliery mine operation is full steam ahead hitting “first coal” in February this year and about to mobilise a second development unit in June. At its peak we’ll run three (3) development panels with a workforce of 180 people strong. This role will report to our Technical Services Manager on site and provide geotechnical support to our growing underground mine operation.

About the role/person:

Our Control Room Operators (CRO’s) are at the centre of our operations, so getting the right people onboard is critical to our success. Our CRO’s are passionate and are the eyes and ears of our operations’ team. They connect everyone and have a wealth of knowledge they use to complete monitoring, analysis and interpretation of project activities, to uphold workplace standards and to apply in emergency first response situations.  Walking the talk and visibly demonstrating the behaviours that reflect our culture - the Mastermyne Way - will be key to your success in this role.

Minimum skills and attributes we seek for a Control Room Operator

  • Prior experience in a similar role is essential;
  • Demonstrated experience in underground cut and flit / bord & pillar mining is highly desirable;
  • Familiar with SIMTARS;
  • Strong understanding of workplace procedures and Health, Safety, Quality and Environment standards;
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and high priority situations;
  • Clear communicator who can facilitate work instructions between work areas and supervisors to improve efficiencies and reduce downtime;
  • Strong understanding of first response procedures in the event of an emergency;
  • Natural problem-solver with the ability to analyse and interpret data to generate solutions;
  • Leading from the front and ensuring standards of work and behaviours are upheld;
  • Supervisory Certificates essential;
  • Standard 11 Statement of Attainment desirable;
  • Advanced First Aid highly desirable;
  • Mine Event Management System (MEMS) Training Program highly desirable;
  • Valid Driver’s Licence.
