The Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) is a commercial Statutory Authority responsible to the Minister for Regional Development and Manufacturing and Minister for Water. GAWB’s purpose is to supply water in bulk to major consumers in the Gladstone Region. Those consumers comprise major industries, power generating organisations, and the Gladstone Regional Council. GAWB manages a variety of assets ranging from major water storage through to pump stations, pipelines, storage tanks and water treatment plants and takes measures to protect the quantity and quality of present and future water supplies and provides, operates and maintains recreational facilities and fish fingerling production facilities and stocking programs.
The organisation is experiencing growth and an increased demand for sophisticated communications and community relations planning and action. As a result they have created this new role reporting to the General Manager People & Culture. The role is truly generalist and will include internal communications, external communications, stakeholder engagement, community relations and events. It will be a mix of strategic planning and implementation. The organisation’s communications function is still in its formative years therefore there is plenty of scope and opportunity to build processes and systems, create plans and have a big impact on organisational outcomes.
We are looking for an experienced practitioner with demonstrated leadership skills. You will have high attention to detail and thrive in a busy and growing environment. You are a generalist who can operate at a strategic and tactical level, as this is a small team environment. You are skilled in building process and communications architecture and systems. Key to your success is your ability to plan and engage with the community and external stakeholders. This role is reactive and proactive however will have a strong advocacy focus.
The role is based in Gladstone, Queensland where GAWB is located. An attractive salary package is on offer for the right candidate.
