About the job...

We are seeking a dedicated Child & Family Consultant to join our inclusive, compassionate and friendly team based in Gladstone or Rockhampton. This position is full-time, fixed-term until 31 May 2024. Extension of employment contract beyond this date is subject to the continued successful government funding of the program.  

This position is responsible for delivering an outreach model of therapeutic case coordination to families, caregivers, kids and young people within the Individual Support Packages (ISP) program.

About the Individual Support Packages program: The Individual Support Packages (ISP) program works in partnership with Child Safety to provide holistic trauma-informed support to children in the child protection system. The ISP team-work in close collaboration to deliver bespoke support packages informed by each child’s needs and focuses on increasing the capacity of their support network to meet these.

Key responsibilities…

Use a trauma-informed model to support children and their ecological networks to achieve better outcomes by:

Completing thorough psycho-social assessments.
Implementing tailored evidence-informed interventions directly to children to cater to individual need.
Supporting reunification plans based on evidence-informed models.
Providing specialist attachment-based coaching and mentoring to carers and stakeholders.
Coordinating services and support networks.
Supporting case plan goals as determined by Child Safety and the ISP Practice Supervisor.
Actively leading and participating in activities including meetings with carers/families and key stakeholders including Child Safety and Department of Education.
Providing expert opinion, guidance, training, advice, assessments and consultation to families, child safety, educators and communities as part of the ISP team
Participate in joint training and professional development opportunities.
Professionally and ethically represent Act for Kids in the delivery of the ISP services.
About you... 


Tertiary degree in a relevant discipline (social work, human services, allied health, psychology, speech and language pathology or occupational therapy).
Professional registration (if required).
Membership of a relevant professional association (desirable).
Skills and experience

At least 5 years’ experience leading a multidisciplinary team in a similar program and environment.
Highly developed knowledge of child protection issues and the child protection sector in Queensland.
Experience and capacity to foster and maintain good working relationships with key stakeholders, partners and the community.
Cultural awareness and an understanding of how to communicate and work effectively work families from different socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Ability to lead and build a strong, cohesive team in alignment with Act for Kids’ values.
Highly developed communication, problem solving and teamwork skills

Other requirements

Eligibility for a positive Working with Children Check in the applicable state of employment in Australia or exemption based on professional qualifications and registration.
Current driver’s licence.

About the pay...

Position is classified Level 6 under the SCHCADS award;
Salary range is $92,704 - $96,805 plus 10% superannuation (pro-rata for part-time);
