We have an exciting ongoing opportunity available within our Corporate Services Branch for an Assistant Director, Technical Engagement to lead and coordinate Sharepoint support services to FWO’s business units.
Full-time and part-time hours are available. The successful applicant will be required to work part of the week out of one of the advertised office locations, and may also work some of the time from home. Offers will be based on candidate performance and operational requirements.

Eligibility
- To be eligible for employment with the FWO you must be an Australian citizen.
- The successful candidate must hold a current Australian Government Security Clearance (AGSVA) or be willing to undergo and obtain a Baseline security clearance.
- Subject to the public health advice in place from time to time, the successful candidate will be required to attend the FWO offices regularly and, depending on the role, be required to attend other locations. About the Team
The FWO is committed to an accountable and business-focused information governance environment and culture. The Information Governance Team delivers the FWO’s information governance functions and projects, which include a range of information management initiatives, as well as the Agency’s information access/Freedom of Information (FOI), information security and privacy functions.
What we are looking for
In the role of Assistant Director, Technical Engagement you will provide analysis and advice to business areas across the FWO to support our document management solution in Sharepoint Online. You will support the translation of business requirements to systems and solutions to ensure the correct solution design and implementation for the business. This will include advising on integrations and migrations as new systems are implemented.
You will have excellent conceptual and analytical skills and a strong technical understanding of Microsoft 365. In addition, you will be able to translate business requirements into practical solutions. Travel may be required as part of this role.
Typical Duties
The duties of the Assistant Director, Technical Engagement include, however, are not limited to:
- High level stakeholder engagement with FWO business areas to deliver information management solutions in Sharepoint Online to meet business needs
- Maintain, promote and communicate best practice guidelines for the Microsoft 365 environment
- Manage the analysis of clients’ technology business requirements and identify opportunities, risks and/or issues
- Identify appropriate and practical solutions, meeting the needs of the business and aligning to industry standards, and ensuring that the team can deliver outcomes
- Build and maintain working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote open communications and facilitate delivery of best practice engagement initiatives
- Interpret and translate analysis results into quality technical specifications and or user stories that are insightful, clear and succinct
- Ability to develop clear communications, change management and training documentation to upskill business areas
- Lead and coordinate business working groups to prioritise change initiatives and to develop a strategic business vision for system success
- Strong technical understanding of records and information systems, including features in Microsoft’s 365 platform that may be valuable in managing information and records, including analysis of new features and provision of clear information across the team
- Develop a deep understanding of system functionality and design and conduct research and analyse options relating to business cases and deliverables to guide optimal decision-making
- Monitor, track and report on the status of key deliverables to ensure outcomes and goals are met.
Selection Criteria
- Well developed communication skills, including demonstrated ability to present and explain complex technical information to a non-technical audience.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, including proven experience and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders in a customer-oriented culture.
- Understanding information management technology landscape, providing advice and solutions to meet the business objectives and outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to lead understanding of technical requirements of modern records systems and Microsoft M365, including integrations, migrations, and upgrades of these systems.
- Sound analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills and the ability to develop practical solutions to complex problems.
- Sound knowledge of contemporary records management processes and requirement, best practise procedures and applicable legislation.
